The answer to that question is probably not. Even brand new computers from the major makers, such as Dell and Gateway, come packed with unnecessary programs that start when your computer boots and run in the background sucking up valuable system resources. So even right out of the box your computer is not running at peak efficiency. For older computers, slow downs and freezing is even more common because in addition to the programs that came with the computer, you also have programs that you want to install and use. Unfortunately, alot of these programs also start when your computer boots. This is not usually necessary. Most, if not all, of these programs can run just fine if they are set to not start up when your computer boots.
